Breakfast Club of the Year Awards!
We are so proud of our staff involved with breakfast club. To receive our award we flew over to London with 4 children who attend breakfast club. Below are some photos if what we got up to!
£2300 for NSPCC
A huge thank you to everyone who participated in our Santa Dash in December, raising almost £5000. A cheque was presented to NSPCC in assembly and the remaining amount has gone to PTA funds. Once again, we are amazed by the generosity of Finaghy PS pupils, family and friends.

£7000 raised for NI Guide dogs!
Guide Dogs NI are our chosen charity this year and we have raised a stunning total of £7000 – a full £2000 over our target. We now get to name two pups, receive birth certificates, get regular ‘pup-dates’ and two visits to the school! We’re very excited. A huge thank you to all pupils, parents

Edinburgh ’15
This year’s Edinburgh trip included visits to adventure park, Seaworld, puppet theatre, Camera Obscura, Edinburgh Castle, bowling, Dynamic Earth, Science Centre and indoor skiing! A whirlwind trip, with lifetime memories! Check the gallery for photos. (Also on our Twitter account: @Finaghyps)

FPS in bloom!
June 2014: Amongst this year’s crops we have radishes, lettuce, leeks, strawberries, raspberries and herbs. The garden has been in great demand these past few weeks for story-telling, bug-hunting, fish-spotting and sun-bathing.
Musicians Sweep the Boards!
NI Brass Band League Solo & Ensemble Contest: February 2014. in the Junior Sections, (comprised largely of Finaghy PS past and present pupils,) members of the Youth Band won the 12 and under ensemble playing, ‘The Great Escape’ and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ under the direction of Jacklin Bingham. Past pupil: Head Girl!
Past pupils, Azka, Emma and Charis are all now in Upper Sixth at Victoria College, and Azka was chosen this year as Head Girl of the school. We were delighted to welcome the girls back to take part in assembly and to talk to our pupils about their hopes and dreams for the future. Azka
P6 Forensics!
In January, RBAI Science Dept. sent Mrs Totten (teacher) to Finaghy PS and asked our P6 classes to help discover who nicked the Inst flag! Apparently Mr Mackay was one of the suspects! World Police & Fire Games
In August Mrs Gough and Miss Wright led a troupe of our youngest pupils as they took part in the opening ceremony of the games! This involved a full day of rehearsals to prepare their ‘Under the Sea’ dance routine and afterwards had VIP seats for the international acts that followed. Huge thanks are due
Musicians from Moldova
On 19 September our pupils were entertained by musicians from Moldova who played traditional folk and classical music. We always enjoy having visitors from different countries, traditions and cultures coming to share their experiences and talents with us. (For those who don’t know – Moldova sits between Ukraine and Romania!)
Eco Garden & Time Capsule
Mr Trevor Dale, Vice Chair of our Board of Governors officiated at the opening of the garden, and, assisted by Mr Peter Breene, helped to lower the Time Capsule – not to be seen again until 2034, on our 100th birthday!

Time Capsule
During May and June, classes are gathering items for the time capsule. It will be buried in the Eco Garden on 21 June 2013, and will be resurrected on 21 June 2034 – on our 100th birthday! We will be putting in memory-stcks filled with pupils’ work, photographs and scanned documents, along with newspapers, memorabilia
